1/48 Junkers Ju 268/ He 162 Mistel composite
The Junkers Project office proposed an explosive carrier, similar to those Arado E 377 and Messerschmitt Me 262 Mistel composite that would be guided to a land target by a jet fighter. It was an aircraft of very simple wooden construction. It would have a mid-wing configuration, with a cruciform empennage. The landing gear consisted in a tricycle undercarriage and would be assisted by six solid-fuel RATO units fixed on it. The entire set would be jettisoned after takeoff. The plane would be powered by two Porsche 109-005 turbojets, fitted under the wings with an inclination angle of 15 degrees. The Heinkel He 162 A-1 Salamander was proposed as guide plane. The explosives would be distributed in various fuselage compartments and would be detonated from the control aircraft. The project was active between January and April 1945, but the Ju 268 was not built finally. |
